Welcome
This page introduces Steinkauz and points you to your first conversation and to the rest of the documentation. Steinkauz gives you access to hundreds of AI models from every major provider in one interface. Use Claude for one task and another provider’s model for the next, including for image generation and web search.
What you can do
- Chat with hundreds of available models from every major provider and switch between them as you like.
- Use tools such as image generation and web search from within conversations.
- Control transparency and privacy: see model origins, usage, and costs; configure security classifications and, on Gateway plans, provider order and zero data retention.
- Share conversations via links so others can view a thread (see Conversation sharing).
Who this is for
Steinkauz is built for everyday users and power users who want more choice and control than single-provider apps offer. You do not need to be a developer. If you want to go deeper, you can use BYOK and advanced settings to tailor providers and data handling.
For a short path to your first conversation, see Quick Start below.
Quick Start
Get up and running with Steinkauz in a few steps.
1. Sign up or log in
Create an account or sign in at the Steinkauz website. You will need an account to use chat, tools, and your personal settings.
2. Choose a plan
- Gateway plans: Use the Gateway. You get included inference budget; no API keys required. Start chatting right away.
- BYOK (Bring Your Own Key): Use your own provider API keys. You pay providers directly; Steinkauz does not bill you for inference. Best if you already have provider accounts.
See Plans overview and BYOK or Gateway Plans for details.
3. Start a conversation
Open the chat interface, pick a model (or use guided model selection if you are unsure), and send your first message. You can switch models at any time.
4. Optional: configure providers and security
- On Gateway plans: Adjust Gateway provider configuration (provider order, restriction, zero data retention) in settings.
- On BYOK: Add and configure providers in BYOK provider configuration.
- You can also set security classifications per provider for finer control over where your data goes.
