BYOK
BYOK (Bring Your Own Key) lets you use your own API keys with AI providers. Steinkauz does not bill you for inference; you pay each provider according to their pricing. This gives you full control over which providers handle your requests and where your data goes.
Supported providers
Steinkauz supports multiple BYOK providers. Enable them in Settings → Providers and add your own API keys. For the full list and descriptions, see BYOK Providers.
You are responsible for complying with each provider’s terms of service and privacy policy when you enable them.
What BYOK includes
- Your keys, your data: Requests go to providers using your keys; you have a direct relationship with each provider.
- No inference markup: Steinkauz does not charge for usage; you pay providers directly.
- Security classifications: You can assign a security classification per provider (e.g. Public, Internal, Confidential, Secret) so that conversations only use providers that match your data sensitivity.
Configuration
To add and manage BYOK providers, use Settings → Providers in the app. For step-by-step and options (API key, base URL, test connection), see BYOK Provider Configuration.
When BYOK makes sense
- You already have accounts with one or more AI providers.
- You want to minimize or avoid inference charges through Steinkauz.
- You need strict control over which providers process your data and want to use security classifications.
