Web Search

Steinkauz supports web search as a tool inside chat. When the tool is enabled, the model can search the web to find current information and use it to answer your questions.

How it works

  • You ask a question in chat. If the model needs up-to-date or external information, it can call the web search tool.
  • The tool runs a search and returns relevant results; the model uses them to formulate its reply.
  • You see the answer in the conversation; the model may cite or summarize what it found.

When web search helps

Web search is useful for questions about recent events, current facts, or anything that changes over time. For general or conceptual questions, the model may answer without searching.

Web search is typically toggled per conversation or in the chat/tools settings. When it is enabled and your selected model supports it, the model can use it when it deems necessary.

Privacy and providers

Searches are performed by the underlying search provider. Usage may count against your plan or provider limits; see Usage statistics and cost breakdown. For how we handle data, see Data handling.
